About MOAA CCC

Welcome to the Florida Nature Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) website. MOAA is the nation's largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization.  Stated briefly, the association may advocate issues, but it may not advocate the election or defeat of candidates or political parties. MOAA is the leading voice on compensation and benefit matters for all members of the military community. The association plays an active role in military personnel matters and especially proposed legislation affecting the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services. MOAA is a tri-level organization.  The national organization, based in Washington D.C., represents more than 370,000 officers and surviving spouses. Then there are over 30 state or regional level affiliates and nearly 400 local chapter affiliates.  The Florida Council of Chapters (FCoC) represents 38 local chapter affiliates in Florida. The MOAA Florida Nature Coast Chapter is a state local chapter affiliate.

Our chapter was established on November 24,1981 as an affiliate of The Retired Officers Association (TROA). In 2003, TROA was renamed as the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

"Camaraderie With A Purpose" is our chapter's mission. With nearly 20,000 Veterans in Citrus County, our chapter members are leaders in Veterans organizations and events in our community to include:

1.  Management of the Veterans In The Classroom program which educates over 8,000 school district children during the two weeks prior to Veterans Day

2.  Management of the Citrus County Veterans Foundation.

a. Chapter members participate as directors in this organization which disburses funds for short term emergency expenses to honorably discharged Veterans or their surviving spouses who are Citrus County residents.

b. Chapter members also manage the Veterans Day golf tournament and a dinner/dance that raises over $26,000 each year with the funds donated to the Citrus County Veterans Foundation.

3.  Our chapter supports our three county JROTC programs.  This includes:

a.  Direct donations to each of the Army, Navy and Air Force JROTC programs.

b.  MOAA Medal Awards to the oustanding junior cadet of each JROTC program.

c.  Managing the JROTC scholarship progam which awards a higher education scholarship to an oustanding senior cadet from each JROTC program.

4.  Chapter Events
