Each year, the Veterans In The Classroom (VITC) program occurs during the two weeks prior to Veterans Day. The Veteran will present age appropriate information and experiences about their U.S. military service.  Veterans are assigned to schools, classes and grades based upon their preferences they have chosen during the registration process.  The teachers register and request specific subjects they are wanting their children to experience. Then the Veteran and teacher are matched as closely as possible to those preferences.  Between 6,000 to 8,000 children each year receive important information about military service to our country. 

Starting July 15 and ending on Sept. 15 of each year, Veterans are encouraged to register through the Citrus County School District website at the following: https://www.citrusschools.org. Look for the red circle containing a flag emblem and "Veterans In The Classroom" underneath the circle. Click on it and start your registration process.
